How Play On Words is Different

  • Words are free-standing; are not linked to one another
  • Multiple game versions. Play the simple "Starter Game," or the advanced "Full Deck version"
  • Easy scoring after each turn (no laborious counting as in some games) and in the Starter Game, no scoring until end of round
  • Higher rewards for extra smart plays
  • Multiple plays allowed per turn
  • The ability to make more and bigger words
  • Additional game play versions on web site. Try them all and choose your favorite
  • Game appeals to both elementary level players (kids) and high-level word game enthusiasts

See the words in the image above? What do they have in common? ANSWER: All of the words have words within them -- TIN, CHOP, and STAY .... and all are changed to new words with the addition of one letter, and in some cases, re-arranged. That's the beauty of Play on Words -- the fun of not only making words but changing words also, and having the ability to rearrange words, which rewards a player doubly.

At Play On Words, we believe there is beauty in simplicity. The cards are simple -- clean, high quality and with excellent legibility. You'll see that we have no numerical values on any of the cards so there isn't a lot of laborious counting. We do this because we believe people enjoy making words more than counting up a lot of numbers. Scoring is simple: everything is worth either
1-point or 2-points per card depending on how the words are played. No more counting up 4+9+6+3+1+1, etc. etc. Scoring is less taxing, but still rewarding for smart word plays.

There are additional differences that contribute to the enjoyment of Play On Words that you would learn about by visiting other parts of this site, including watching the videos.
